L2S - "Learn to
Sail" A 10 Day (2 week) Beginner Program for age 9-17, class size
limited to 12. Topics include water safety, Boat rigging and terminology
,
knot tying, basic sailing from point A to B. Prerequisite: life vest, swim
test Session 1: June 20-July1, Session 2: July
11-July 22, Session 3: Aug. 1-Aug. 12

L2S2 - "Learn to Sail
II" A continuation of L2S to reinforce and master skills leered. Class
size 12, on completion eligible for "Sailor" or "Racer"
program. Prerequisite: life vest, swim test completion of L2S Session
1: July 11-July 22, Session 2: Aug. 1-Aug. 12

"SAILORS" - Two days a
week Monday & Friday (Wednesday evening 6pm to sunset optional) relaxed
on the water experience on a variety of boats. Prerequisite: life vest, swim
test, LS1 program completion.

"RACE PROGRAM" - Tuesday
to Friday (Wednesday evening 6pm to sunset optional) Prerequisite:
life vest, swim test, LS1 program completion.

"Adult L2S Program" -
for "kids" over age 18, meet once a week over four weeks. This is
our basic "Learn to Sail" program tailored for adults.
Prerequisite: life vest, swim test. Session 1:
June 20-July 18 (no class July 4), Session 2:
Aug. 1-Aug. 22, Session 3: Aug. 29-Sept. 26 (no
class Sept. 5)

NSJS offers scholarships annually based on need and ambition. To be considered for a scholarship, please compose a letter addressed to the NSJS Board of Directors that describes your financial situation and the prospective student's aptitude and enthusiasm for acquiring the skills of sailing, safety, and sportsmanship. |
And, there's no such thing as a "Rain Day." We sail in the rain. If conditions do not permit on the water training, we catch up on classroom instruction with land based activities.
Students are responsible for providing their own lunches, water bottles, personal floatation devices (pfd), secure closed toe shoes (i.e. "Crocs - Tevas - watershoes - keens"), sunscreen and appropriate clothing. Please let us know if you have any difficulties with these requirements - we'll do whatever we can to help!
